Point-of-Care Testing of International Normalized Ratios for People on Oral Anticoagulants: A Rapid Qualitative Review

نویسندگان

چکیده

The opportunity to engage in self-testing can be experienced as simultaneously liberating and constraining.
While may appreciated a form of point-of-care testing for international normalized ratio (INR) levels, some people engaged were concerned with the limited amount personalized care they received.
People using oral anticoagulants described community pharmacist-led anticoagulation management services (CPAMS) convenient way INR levels learning about their health needs.
Community pharmacists felt well-situated provide through CPAMS, but acknowledged importance ongoing training, oversight, appropriate resourcing.

Point-of-care international normalized ratio testing accelerates thrombolysis in patients with acute ischemic stroke using oral anticoagulants.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Thrombolysis in patients using oral anticoagulants (OAC) and in patients for whom information on OAC status is not available is frequently delayed because the standard coagulation analysis procedure in central laboratories (CL) is time-consuming. By using point-of-care (POC) coagumeters, international normalized ratio (INR) values can be measured immediately at the bedsid...

Point-of-care coagulometry in prehospital emergency patients--are international normalized ratios useful?

Commentary With great interest we read the recent article of Beynon et al. [1]. The authors aimed to assess the validity of a point-of-care (POC) coagulometer measuring international normalized ratios (INR) utilized in a prehospital setting. Indeed, there is a great potential for POC tests in emergency patients and only few studies have been conducted. Although the authors highlighted limitatio...

Point-of-care testing for emergency assessment of coagulation in patients treated with direct oral anticoagulants

BACKGROUND Point-of-care testing (POCT) of coagulation has been proven to be of great value in accelerating emergency treatment. Specific POCT for direct oral anticoagulants (DOAC) is not available, but the effects of DOAC on established POCT have been described. We aimed to determine the diagnostic accuracy of Hemochron® Signature coagulation POCT to qualitatively rule out relevant concentrati...
